Climate Mobility Pavilion - COP29
The Climate Mobility Pavilion (CMP), organized by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM), is a dedicated space in the Blue Zone at COP29 in Baku where global leaders, policymakers, experts, and affected communities will discuss evidence, policies, and actions needed to enable positive adaptation journeys for people and communities at the frontline of the climate crisis. The CMP will center its programme on advancing engagements and partnerships for people-centered climate action and enabling community transition amidst climate change.
Context
Forced displacement is emerging as the human face of the climate crisis. Extreme weather events and slow onset changes such as water scarcity, decreased crop yields, and rising sea-level are driving millions of people from their homes. Against this backdrop, the CMP at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh and at COP28 in Dubai played a central role in mobilizing like-minded champions to elevate climate mobility in the international agenda, particularly on advancing adaptation efforts and addressing loss & damage.
Join Us
From 11 to 22 November, the CMP will feature a 10-day programme of events and panels that will bring together leaders, experts and key constituencies, featuring new knowledge and policy practices, as well as innovative solutions and partnerships for addressing and harnessing climate mobility. Each day, the CMP will offer up to six timeslots for thematic events and panels, including receptions, film screenings, and other activities. These events will also provide the opportunity to engage the topic of climate mobility through art, music, and culture. Are you interested in organizing an event in the CMP? Please fill out the Expression of Interest form.
Youth at the CMP
The CMP Youth Programme will bring together a group of young people to advance climate action focusing on the most climate-vulnerable regions in the world. Full sponsorship for participation in COP29 and capacity building support will be provided to the selected Climate Mobility and Rising Nations Youth Delegates. Young people from frontline communities affected by climate mobility are strongly encouraged to apply.
