The Climate Mobility Pavilion @ COP27

The Global Centre for Climate Mobility played a leading role during COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh in placing climate mobility at the top of the global climate agenda. The Climate Mobility Pavilion directly addressed climate-forced displacement, which has emerged as the human face of the climate crisis. Situated in the Blue Zone, the Climate Mobility Pavilion was a dedicated space for discussion on expanding the climate mobility policy ecosystem and community of practice, to ensure that climate mobility solutions are enshrined in Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Strategies. This would enable financing to support people positive adaptation, including locally-anchored climate mobility solutions.

A Major Highlight

A major highlight of the Climate Mobility Pavilion was the launch of the Africa Shifts report by the Africa Climate Mobility Initiative, along with an open-source climate mobility model to aid long-term decision making, and eight actions that need to take place in the next eight years.

Hosted by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility, and with the participation of numerous organisations bringing people positive adaptation strategies to life, the programme of events focuses on 10 themes.
