Communities Climate Adaptation Facility

The Communities Climate Adaptation Facility (C-CAF) is a global initiative spearheaded by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) to address the pressing needs of local communities at the frontline of the climate crisis. Hosted at UNOPS, the C-CAF was established to facilitate the adaptation journeys of local communities experiencing the existential threat of sea-level rise and other adverse climate impact.

About the C-CAF

The C-CAF aims to bridge the gap in climate finance reaching local levels and directly empower affected populations by providing climate quick impact grants to frontline communities. With current climate finance primarily focused on structural and infrastructure projects, the C-CAF grants will empower communities to address urgent climate-related challenges and take part in designing responses to strengthen their adaptive capacities and resilience. The C-CAF will scale up and bring about transformative community-led adaptation through close partnership with national governments as well as international and regional partners.

The C-CAF community grants focus on results for vulnerable populations across multiple sectors, including basic services like water and sanitation, environment, health, housing, and workforce development. The grants can benefit populations that are isolated or have lost access to government services in areas exposed to climate risk, as well as communities moving or relocating due to climate impacts.

Enable Positive Community Transition

The C-CAF aims to enable positive community transition ensuring people-centered climate action and empowering local ownership and community leadership in defining their adaptation journeys.

Fiji

The GCCM, in partnership with the Government of Fiji, has officially launched the Call for Proposals under the C-CAF in Fiji. Fiji’s participation in the C-CAF is more than a funding opportunity—it’s a platform for action. By putting resources directly in the hands of local communities, the initiative helps scale solutions that are already working on the ground.
